Intermecs wireless printer offers speedy performance

The first-ever wireless mobile label printer from Intermec could take the mobile market by storm, promising to be able to print the first label twice as quickly as other label printers.

The company's PB50 offers both Bluetooth and WLAN connectivity, and can be configured using Intermec's SmartSystems deployment technology, which is also used for products such as its CN3 series, 700 series and CK61 series mobile computers and SR61 and SF51 Bluetooth scanners.

The unit combines high-speed electronics with the ability to print the full width of all pixels. It includes a high-voltage 14.8V 2200mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery offering up to 32.56 watt hours. The printer uses patented techniques for print head power management, and Intermec says its high-speed electronics are of a kind normally only used in desktop printers.

The PB50 is a direct thermal printer, capable of printing up to 1,000 4in by 6in labels per charge. Weight is put at under 1500g including battery and paper roll.
