Near and far scanning from Intermec
Near-Far EX Imaging is among the key technologies behind the new ultra-rugged CK61ex handheld computer from Intermec. This enables users to scan 1D and 2D barcodes in any orientation, from 6in to 50ft away, as well as capturing images, signatures and documents. Intermec says this approach also means users can benefit from adopting less expensive paper labels for long-distance scans, opening up new efficiencies and application opportunities across the warehouse. The unit runs under Windows Mobil and comes with 128MB RAM and 192MB storage. It supports voice applications, and can be used on 802.11a/b/g wireless networks. Mobile RFID read/write functionality is being added through an optional snap-on RFID handle - the recently-announced IP30.
