Tracking provided as standard on Dawsonrentals trailers

Trailers rented from Dawsonrentals now come equipped as standard with the Axscend asset tracking system. The company says it is providing the system free of charge.

Dawsonrentals says trailer tracking 'significantly improves asset utilisation and fleet control.' It adds that tracked trailers and loads are also more secure, and says a number of Axscend customers have recovered stolen trailers within hours of them being stolen.

The Axscend system is designed specifically for tracking non-powered assets such as trailers and containers. The GPS unit attached to each trailer transmits its location via a satellite network rather than by GSM phone network, and the company says this means that there are no 'black spots' in coverage.

End users access data over the Internet, using their own secure login to a 'data portal'. In addition to providing location information, the system be used to schedule MOT tests and servicing requirements.
