Knights of Old tracks with Navman

Transport and logistics company Knights of Old has installed a tracking, navigation and messaging system in all 75 of its commercial vehicles. It has chosen the system from Navman Wireless, which includes the supplier's own satnav, as well as vehicle tracking and other functions.

Operations director Paul Abbott says the company has already seen significant benefits such as reduced mileage, 'and we are starting to see a reduction in fuel use.'

He adds that it has also improved communication between the office and drivers, and enabled administrators to make better decisions when allocating vehicles to work.

He admits the company followed the lead provided by fellow-companies it works with. 'A few of our partners were already operating the system so when it came time to implement a system of our own, Navman Wireless came very highly recommended.'

The system is built round Navman's M-Nav 650 system, which combines tracking, navigation and messaging.

Knights of Old is based at Kettering, but for anyone interested, it was founded by a family called Knight, and was originally based at the nearby village called Old.
