Digital comms will now work on the Underground
Police operating in the below-ground stations on the London Underground can now use their TETRA mobile radios anywhere on the network. This is the result of the completion of a project by Airwave to deploy its TETRA system in all 125 below-ground stations. Airwave was awarded the contract in January 2007. The rollout has been managed by the National Policing Improvement Agency, and forms part of a £10 million investment programme by Transport for London.
