Virgin Media tracks installation fleet
![]() Virgin Media, the entertainment and communications giant, is to fit 1,800 vans in its installations operation with a bespoke version of the C-Track tracking system from DigiCore. It will combine the features of classic vehicle tracking with a job allocation system for engineers. The company says the objectives include enhancing its operational performance in the field, and improving its service to customers. The C-track system is built round satellite navigation-enabled PDAs, and will provide a flexible job allocation solution that enables Virgin Media to identify and select the most suitable service staff for each job, ensuring effective use of mobile assets. Virgin was keen to be able to protect the privacy of mobile employees outside working hours. The system will therefore incorporate an in-vehicle switch to change between business and private mileage, so that drivers are not monitored when not working. The associated reporting package will be also be configured to cover business time only.
