Cordless scanner that doubles as terminal
![]() A cordless laser scanner launched by Datalogic Scanning is described as appealing particularly to customers requiring what the company terms 'extreme mobility' and versatility in manufacturing and warehouse environments. The PowerScan 8300 has a full keypad and four-line sixteen-character display – a combination that is said to make the device suitable for applications that would typically require more traditional terminals. Offering two-way communication with the host computer, it is said to be well suited to tasks such as inventory management. Its Li-ION battery is said to be easily replaceable, and has a life of over 60,000 cycles (reading and transmission), which Datalogic says guarantees usage for more than one eight-hour shift even in extremely congested applications. The PowerScan 8300 line forms part of Datalogic Scanning's premium line of rugged handheld readers.
