How 50,000 drivers could save themselves grief
More than 50,000 drivers a year who forget to pay for the London congestion charge should use GPS tracking to remind them. That's the blunt but compelling advice from tracking systems specialist Verilocation, which points out that the latest tracking systems (it doesn't just single out its own) often have an alert system based on a 'geofence' that tells them when they've entered the zone. 'You get a penalty notice for £120 if you haven't paid the congestion charge by midnight the day after you entered the charge zone,' says VeriLocation's Andrew Overton. 'For some drivers that's a shock, as they didn't realise they had been in the zone, despite the signage.' You also get other benefits with the Verilocation system, of course, including real-time information and analytical reports on vehicle movements.
