Smarter, speedier remote device management
A new version of the mprodigy mobile enterprise management suite has released by B2M Solutions, which says it enables users to commission new mobile devices much more quickly, and provides much more reporting information in a more accessible way. The system has also been made smarter at alerting users to potential problems. The ActiveSync commissioning process in the new system reduces commissioning time by as much as 70 per cent, B2M says, speeding up the roll-out of devices whilst placing less drain on scarce resources. An all-new suite of analytics offers access via a new Web interface from any browser, providing detailed information on functions such as such as device software and utilisation, battery data, device event, support incident and network analysis, and application event monitoring. mprodigy's new alerting system looks particularly neat. It has been enhanced by the use of RSS- and ATOM-compatible feeds. These can be tailored to meet specific user requirements and accessed from anywhere via a standard reader application such as an email client, browser, application or web service. The company cites the example of a situation where a feed might be set up by the user-organisation's IT support manager to provide a notification if a specified percentage of devices fail during a new application roll-out. mprodigy 2.0 is available from members of the B2M 'mpartner' community as a managed service/software as a service (SaaS).
