Wireless fork-truck scales
![]() A fork-truck scale system said to be the first with trade-approved wireless capabilities has been launched by Avery Weigh-Tronix. The system is said to be suitable for fitting on any standard forklift truck. It enables drivers to weigh what they are picking up and capture 'legal for trade' weight data. The FLSC -05 system consists of a robust weighing scale carriage and a choice of two in-cab indicators. Like previous units, the data can captured by serial links, USB and Ethernet, but now also via an optional Wi-Fi link or Bluetooth link. Working in conjunction with it is the indicator, which is in effect a mobile computer in its own right. It has a 7in touchscreen colour LCD display, and can operate from 9 to 36 volts. It can show up to 19 different data fields simultaneously, and also displays wireless status, on-demand diagnostics, alphanumerical entry and stored records. It runs Windows CE.NET. A simpler FLI225 in-cab instrument is also available. It has backlit LCD display and nine hard keys, but still offers the option of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capability.
