Tough panel PCs for luxury yacht
![]() This remarkable 228ft luxury yacht, built in 2002, was originally owned by Australian golfer Greg Norman. It is reportedly the biggest aluminium-hulled vessel of its kind. Later it became a charter vessel carrying up to 12 passengers and 15 crew, when it was named the Floridian. Now in private ownership, it has been refitted and renamed the Nomad. Our excuse for parading it here is the fact that we've been told it has been fitted with six rather neat panel PCs from Eurotech. These VX-121P units, running Windows XP Embedded, feature high-brightness TFT monitors, and are IP54-rated for resistance to moisture and dust. They have been installed at key locations on the vessel such as the engine room, generator room, crew's mess engineers' quarters. They form part of an all-new monitoring and communications facility supplied by Servowatch Systems, part of the Thales group.
