Cognito unveils brand new hosted mobility platform

Cognito has launched an all-new mobility solution, the Cognito Service Delivery Platform, which looks far more wide-ranging and integrated than anything the company has offered before, and extends the Web-based, hosted approach much further.

The company says it should enable organisations to improve the productivity of mobile workers by making it much easier to automate often inefficient manual processes through the use of mobile IT.

It includes real-time data, messaging, scheduling and tracking. Each of these applications is delivered as a hosted service, rather than as self-installed and self-customised middleware. Cognito says this makes them easy to adopt, as well as much more affordable for businesses of all sizes. The entire platform is hosted by Cognito.

A business intelligence component analyses data from mobile devices in real time to identify areas where the performance of mobile workers and the business can be further improved. All this means customers do not have to invest in the specialist systems and knowledge often needed to build, manage and run this type of operation.

According to Michael Cross, Cognito's director of business development: 'Mobility systems are a relatively unknown quantity for most IT departments, despite the widely acknowledged benefits.' He adds: 'There are fears about walking blindly into a project because of the lack of internal knowledge and unknown resource requirements.

Within the suite are a range of enterprise solution services, including real-time data handling, authentication, messaging, scheduling, tracking and asset management. The suite also features a new customer services interface, a hosted communication system that replaces any in-house resource, and a selection of business intelligence tools.
