Executives in more than two thirds of European organisations are not fully aware what sensitive data is stored within their employees' mobile devices, according to a survey conducted by mobility software specialist Sybase.

It adds that 38 per cent of those questioned were not aware of what applications were installed on employees' mobile devices.

Only 15 per cent were completely confident that they would be legally protected should an employee's mobile device be lost or stolen and company data were to fall into the wrong hands.

The survey also revealed that two thirds of organisations questioned did not have the capabilities to manage all their mobile devices and operating systems centrally.
