Pollock standardises on Masternaut telematics
Pollock standardises on Masternaut telematics

Pollock (Scotrans), the Scottish transport group famous for its peacock and red livery and bold Pollock logo, has decided to equip its entire vehicle fleet with a telematics and tracking system from Masternaut Three X.

Financial controller Harry Mulvey says the system will help the company to manage its fleet proactively and alert customers of any alterations to delivery times. 'They are also aware that such a system will improve safety and environmental performance, and this fits in with their own policies,' he says.

He adds: 'Fleet tracking has come a long way in terms of management information. Customers also recognise the benefits of live tracking, and many require their transport partners to use it.'

He says the system will provide comprehensive reporting on fuel usage, idling and speed, assisting with driver training schemes and helping drivers to improve driving styles and on-road safety. It will also provide accurate payroll reports, eventually eliminating the need for drivers to submit timesheets.

Pollock runs a mixed fleet of artics, rigid trucks and vans. It was founded in the 1930s, surviving post-war nationalisation and then later a brief merger with a larger group. The company transferred its headquarters from its old Musselburgh base to Bathgate only two years ago.
