The UK's TV licensing system is reported to have been made significantly more efficient by the deployment of a wide-ranging mobile worker management solution from Blackbay.

The company's Service Connect solution has been implemented by Capita Business Services, which handles most of the work involved in administering and collecting TV licensing revenue, including managing the field force of enquiry officers.

According to Colin Jones, Capita's TV licensing field operations director, the system has helped Capita's field operations staff to increase the number of visits they are able to complete in a day, to both private and commercial premises – which has resulted in an increase in licence fees being collected.

He adds: 'Our operations staff have less paperwork to deal with, which has in turn significantly reduced time spent on administrative tasks by the field officers.'
