In-vehicle printer from Toshiba TEC

An in-vehicle mobile printer has been added to the B-EP range of dot-matrix portables from Toshiba TEC. The B-EP8 joins the existing EP2 and EP4 models. Toshiba describes it as "a low-maintenance workhorse for the mobile sales force".

The B-EP8 features a 24-pin high resolution printhead, and can handle both continuous forms and single-sheet forms (paper size is 102 by 267mm width) at a print speed of up to 400 characters/sec. It has a 180 deg printer cover opening to make it as easy as possible to replace the ribbon cassette.

Taking advantage of the fact that it will be vehicle-mounted, the unit does not rely on batteries; it can be powered either by an AC adapter or directly from the vehicle’s own DC power circuit.

The company sees it has having particular appeal for van sales applications, though it might be effective in any operation where ad hoc documentation must be produced at the point of delivery.
