9 March 2012 How Zenith saved £90,000 with TomTom
You hear a lot about the savings delivered by telematics and tracking systems, but it’s always instructive when a user spells out exactly how they add up. Zenith Hygiene Group, a supplier of cleansing chemicals and ancillary products, says it is on track to reduce its distribution costs by £90,000 within a year. Zenith installed TomTom’s tracking, navigation and EcoPlus devices across its fleet of 56 company cars and 63 trucks in June 2011. Average fuel consumption has improved from 26 to 43 mpg in just four months, says operations director Michael Rayner. This is turn has reduced the company’s carbon footprint by 33lbs per day to 24lbs per day, he adds. In addition, the company has been able to improve vehicle routing and the deployment of its mobile workforce to customers – leading to a significant increase in its on-time in-full delivery performance and an increase in customer satisfaction. And the monitoring of driver performance is said to have reduced incidents of speeding, idling, harsh braking and other such efficiency failings dramatically.
