9 March 2012 Inmarsat consolidates, rebrands
Inmarsat, the global mobile satellite communications specialist, has rebranded several subsidiary companies to bring them more visibly into the Inmarsat family. They are Stratos (a leading Inmarsat distributor), Segovia (communications solutions for the US government) and Ship Equip (VSAT maritime communications services for the shipping, offshore oil and gas and fishing markets). These companies will now use Inmarsat branding. At the same time the company has established four main operating divisions – maritime, government (US), government (worldwide) and enterprise. There will also be a new cross-divisional unit handling customer support, product and service management, channel development, commercial management and marketing communications. The organisation says the changes will make it more responsive. It emphasises that despite owning a key distributor, it will continue to distribute through third-party partners as well. Inmarsat has 500 staff at more than 40 locations around the world, and turned over $1,171 million in the year ending in December 2010.
