18 June 2012 Morrisons contracts Ryzex to supply 1,200 Motorola handhelds Morrison, a leading responsive repairs and maintenance service provider for the housing sector, is issuing 1,200 Motorola handheld computers to its front-line repair and maintenance operatives under a new contract signed with mobility solutions specialist Ryzex. Morrison’s objectives include maximising the effectiveness of the mobile staff and improving the reliability and longevity of mobile equipment. The company is hoping to reduce its mobile device replacement rate by up to 20 per cent, which will help to improve its operatives’ availability and productivity. It also sees a benefit in minimising its carbon footprint. The semi-rugged handhelds are Motorola ES400 models, which will be used with the 1st Touch mobile software platform. Features include the ability to optimise job scheduling and minimise operatives’ downtime. Under the Ryzex contract, Morrison will benefit from an emergency next-day exchange policy, which is said to guarantee that devices will have an extended life cycle of no less than three years. This in turn is said to mean that replacement rates and costs will be minimised.
Morrison’s IT director, Andrew Nolan, sums up: "The Ryzex mobility solution makes complete business sense." © Ivory Square Publications Ltd
