16 August 2012 Quartix working with Towergate Insurance Telematics equipment from Quartix is now available as part of the Fleetcare+ scheme offered by Towergate Insurance. The development stems from a partnership deal between the two companies. Quartix offers advanced driver behaviour reporting in both its InfoPlus and Corporate packages, along with its range of online vehicle tracking tools. The system analyses driving style in terms of acceleration, braking and speeding. According to Larry Smith, managing director of Towergate Insurance Motor: "The future is telematics. It predicts what could happen in the future and gives us the opportunity to stop the loss before it occurs." Quartix has been a pioneer in linking vehicle telematics with insurance, and has supplied thousands of units to Coverbox over the past couple of years.
The concept is gradually being taken up by more and more telematics companies and insurers. Coverbox, for instance, is now also working with Ctrack, while Towergate also works with TomTom (m.logistics, issue 56). © Ivory Square Publications Ltd
